StormReady Community

StormReady communities are better-prepared to notify citizens and save lives from the affects of severe weather through advanced planning, education, and awareness. No community is storm-proof, but StormReady practices can help save lives and property.

Weather Policy

The City of Benbrook follows the North Central Texas Council of Governments weather policy, which defines severe weather as a storm with the potential to produce hail at least one inch (1”) in diameter and/or sustained winds in excess of 70 miles per hour. When these conditions occur, the outdoor sirens in Benbrook will be sounded, and the Know NOW mobile app will be activated to inform citizens of impending danger. These instant alerts will go directly to your mobile phone.

Residents are encouraged to download the Know NOW app on their phone at KnowNOW.App and select the Benbrook group to follow. The setup process is simple and requires only a username, password, and one contact method (either an email address or phone number). With the Know NOW app, you’ll receive real-time updates on local emergencies, weather alerts, and public safety information. Whether you’re at home or traveling, the app ensures you stay connected and informed. You can also receive alerts and stay informed about family and friends in the area during emergencies. Instant notifications are sent straight to your phone, keeping you aware and prepared wherever you are. For assistance or questions, email jtate@benbrook-tx.gov.
